The $6.99 HD Quick Look plugin by shedworx.com allows a thumbnail preview of the first frame of .MTS AVCHD files in the OS X Finder.
They also offer VoltaicHD which allows conversion of standalone .MTS files to other QuickTime video formats without the need for the entire AVCHD file structure.

Good tip, so I assume Canon HF100 works good with Final Cut? Would be greate if you could blog about your workflow Canon HF100 and Final Cut.
There's not much to say about the HF100 to Final Cut Pro workflow. There's a Log and Transfer window that shows a preview of the AVCHD clips on the SDHC card. You select the clips you want and optionally set in and out points and then let Final Cut Pro convert them to easily editable AIC or ProRes422 files.
Does it do icon previews in Finder? Not that I want to pay extra for something that should have worked in the first place.
You can test it out. It looks like the plugin is now free for everyone.
